Our cues under Xmas tree

Thanks for walking with us through this special calendar!

Our cues under Xmas tree…

Ensure to have always with you an impedance meter.
It will help you to carry the speakers’ lines measurements correctly.
Did you know that 100 V audio systems, without compromising the quality of voice and/or music reproduction, feature enormous installation advantages if compared to systems @ low impedance?
Among the various advantages of 100 V audio systems, we can list long distances with standard cables with section of 1,5 up to 4 mm2 – the possibility to cover vast areas installing various speakers in parallel.
Apply always and only to companies in the position to secure the best possible support for the solution design as well as for the needed services after-sales.
Ensure to have always with you a smartphone, laptop or Tablet to have easy accesses to the necessary documentation you could need to install properly VA or/and PA products of your system.
The right and adequate selection of the speakers is necessary to ensure a good efficiency to your installation.
Remind always that your amplifier power must always be above the total power of your speakers lines.
Ensure to use always speakers of premium brand to ensure to have full technical documentation including EASE models necessary for acoustic simulation.

Remind always that

where:   P = power in (W)  •  V = output power supply (V) • R = impedance of the speakers line (Ohm)

and

These two formulas are necessary to define PA/VA installation requirements.

If – for your installation – An evacuation system is required, ensure to opt for EN54 certified products and for certifications processes carried always by official certification bodies.
Ensure to select your speaker based on the protection level against humidity and the application type needed. Read always IP value.
Read always carefully the sensibility and the frequency response of the speakers to select properly and adequately the ones needed for your installation.
Are you designing an evacuation system?
Remind always that SAFETY principles start from the device you must absolutely consider and use! Yes, only EN54 certified products.
If you are within Europe EN54-16, EN54-24 & EN54-4 are your standards of reference.
Do not forget the speaker cable, it has to be EVAC. Yes, the one Purple, if your installation is in Italy.
If your project foresees a mandatory evacuation system and you are in Italy, follow Fire Prevention Code (D.M. 3rd august 2015 and rev. DM 18/10/2019).
Ensure to do the necessary risk analysis and remind that a Voice Alarm system is compliant only and solely if the speakers are certified EN54-24 and relevant design and installation – if you are in Italy – is according to UNI ISO 7240-19 or UNI CEN/TS 54-34.
If you are outside of Italy, please ensure to make reference to your local legislation.
If you are in Italy and your installation is in accordance with UNI ISO 740-19, please remind that the maintenance of the devices must be effected every 6 months.
Please remind that complex solutions are not always synonymous of Safety.

In order to safely evacuate a building, the emergency plan simplicity is a must.

If the results of a risk analysis suggest that an EVAC zone should be served by two or more loudspeaker lines, the speakers must be positioned and wired in such a way that a fault in one line does not compromise the recommended level of intelligibility for that area.

This schematic is self -explanatory as regards the necessity of double speakers line and redundancy.

While planning your installation, please ensure always that your speakers are neither very distant one from the other nor positioned at a very high level from the floor.
Remind that it is always better to foresee a capillary distribution of low-power speakers than a cluster of high-power speakers. Please note that the prescriptive method according to European standards  ISO 7240-19  with reference to EVAC systems installation foresees:
6 meters distance when the speaker is unidirectional
12 meters for bidirectional speakers.

Please note that the Multi-function tools to measure the sound pressure level (SPL) and the sound transmission intelligibility (STI) are very important to define the time coefficient of the environmental reverberation during the following different project/installation phases:

  • Project design.
  • Installation Startup and the different presets set up.
  • Installation periodic maintenance during which:
    – SPL parameter control is necessary every 6 months
    – STI parameter survey is required each year

If you are in Italy, or in Europe and when you apply to ISO 7240-19 standards, remind that you can apply to this prescriptive method, only when the reverberation timing is within 1,3 seconds and ambient noise is within  65 dB. For all the rest of the cases, it is more appropriate to foresee and define the intelligibility parameters when designing the installation-project through specific tools so as Ease Evac acoustic simulation software.

Please note that the system intelligibility does depend on the reverberation of the environment. The sound system cannot correct this environment reverberation parameter.
But the good speaker units installation positioning and the relevant distribution close to listening points can improve the intelligibility increasing ratio between direct and reflected acoustic energies.
Our cues do not stop today.  If your curiosity persists and you are in ITALY, you can find more answers within ANIE guides publications.  Those publications, dedicated to installers and duly drawn up by professionals of the field are dynamically, continuously, constantly and deeply updated and explained with reference to standards and ministerial decree in force.
