In early January 2026, Thialf, one of the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessels operated by Heerema Marine Contractors, embarked on a transformative journey. After 20 years of reliable service from its original PASO sound solution, the time had come for an upgrade that enhances both the audio experience and safety features. The new system includes a dedicated interface for fire alarms, general alarms, and  man-overboard alerts, ensuring exceptional operational safety.

This ambitious project was expertly executed by our long-standing partner, Red Star Sound Systems, who spent over a month meticulously configuring the new setup in collaboration with the local dealer Venteville B.V.

The upgraded system features:

16 × AW5648 amplifiers
2 × P8136 Voice/Music Multizone Systems
2 × MX5102 10 CH / 2 OUT pre-amplifier mixers – including a customized mixer by Red Star
3 Special Paso desk microphones  with zone and alarm buttons.

These components will work in harmony, keeping Thialf at the forefront of maritime technology.
