| | Systems for hearing bearers -Series LAX
The Series LAX amplifiers have been specifically designed to transmit sounds inductively; they are mainly used in audio systems dedicated to people wearing hearing aids.
• Most modern equipment have a two positions switch, offering a “M” and a “T” position. The “M” position is dedicated to “normal” hearing through the microphone. The “T” (Telecoil) position is dedicated to an “inductive” hearing, through a special coil inside the device. The current amplifier connected to the sound source feeds a copper turn (Loop) - opportunely insulated - placed on the perimeter to be voiced. The current in the coil generates a variable magnetic field that is “induced” in the coil inside the acoustic aid device.
• Normally, the magnetic field is intense enough to allow the people wearing acoustic protheses to freely move inside the premises, while hearing at a continuously comfortable level. The main benefit of this system, when compared with others operating with radio-frequencies or infra-red, is that the sound comes to user in a non-distorted way and without any noises, echoes
or ambience reverb, thus being totally intelligible.
• The use of this kind of devices is more and more widespread in public spaces, such as theatres, churches, banks, schools, offices, etc., However, it can also be used at home, with connections to the TV set, the tuner, the telephone or the intercom system.
